Wavelength Arts (C.I.C.) is a new organisation, based and working in Doncaster and the Dearne Valley area, which will build on the broad experience and track record of Badge Productions( a partnership successfully run by myself and another current Wavelength director) with the following aims and objectives...
- to initiate and develop innovative Community Arts projects
- to encourage and foster the local Artistic Community
- to help individual local artists and groups of artists to develop and find an audience and market for their work
- to generate original new artwork and music
- to encourage collaborative projects artworks and performances between the different artistic disciplines.
- to use digital media & the internet to market and sell the work of local original artists
Why Wavelength Arts?
The idea for Wavelength Arts has come about as a result of increasing collaborative work between new and established artists (i.e. musicians, music producers, visual artists, film makers, VJ’s and writers ) and a desire to create an effective and legitimate vehicle for people’s skills, talents and creativity.
Education & Community Arts
As with Badge Productions, education and community arts work will represent a core element in our company ‘mission’ and we will develop the rich client base established by Badge Productions over the past nine years. With a more effective marketing strategy and with better access to funding, we believe that we could deliver more high quality projects and services to schools, colleges, youth & community centres at an affordable and fair price for organisations in this sector.
Developing the Artistic Community & new work
We have always sought to support and encourage creative endeavours by original artists, primarily in the field of music and music production. This support has usually taken the form of free recording and production time, or free loans of equipment and resources. Recently Wavelength Arts artists have been working more collaboratively with visual artists and writers / spoken word performers, using digital media to create new collaborative forms of artwork and performance. i.e. integrated programmes/ performances of original music and high- resolution digital projections and images; digitisation and processing of original paintings for display and projection and recording and production of poetry / prose soundscapes interwoven with original music, field recordings and digital FX.
The creation of Wavelength Arts, with it’s stated commitment to original, collaborative new work and Artist’s development would provide a growing skills and resource base for local creative people.
The Internet - A shop window for local artists and their work
Doncaster, the Dearne Valley and South Yorkshire is home to some of the region’s (and indeed the nation’s) finest musicians , artists and writers; creative people who, year on year produce high quality work that is recognised at a regional, national and international level as well as new artists who struggle to gain recognition and even acknowledgement of their work.
With London and the larger provincial cities often acting as an exclusive focus for media and music / art / literary / film industry attention we believe that, with the right strategy, specialist experience and business acumen Wavelength Arts could provide a range of internet-based services that would greatly benefit local artists and their work.
